Another win for my Harbour Fenders!

On Reflection - Cape Town Harbour Fenders from the Port of Cape Town.
Every year I do my best to get at least one of my textile art works on exhibit at International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas USA. Not all are in competition 4 of them have been in special exhibits over the years and touring. I've been very lucky, last year 2017 I had 2 in special exhibits and 2 in World of Beauty competition. Thought well this may not happen again so I even made the trip to go and see them all hanging and of course to be at IQA's biggest event in the USA in my world.
This year I had only one of my works to enter competition and exhibit, which was 'On Reflection' - Cape Town Harbour Fenders. Well....I was told a couple of months ago via email that I'd won a cash prize in my category. I was thrilled to pieces but until last week at the Festival when it was announced I didn't know what prize I won. 2nd Prize!!!! Yay and thrilled to bits. Never thought I'd ever win any sort of prize at Houston in my lifetime, this is such a thrill.
Considering this piece while I was working on it nearly ended up in the bin on more than one occasion, I'm glad now I persisted. My Fenders is actually the first piece I've ever done where the whole image is a collage. Swore I'd never do it again and yet my next one 'Bordering Extinction' was done in the same way and also won me a First and Viewers Choice at AQC (Australasian Quilt Convention) this year 2018.
What can I say?
Ecstatic doesn't even come close!
