AQC 2023 you need to be there.
I hope you're ready to come to AQC 2023 in just a couple of weeks time. It's the first one back in Melbourne at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton Gardens since 2019. With Covid 19 and Victoria's lock downs, either it was unable to happen or too risky in 2022 to have it here Melbourne, so Brisbane stepped up and hosted it. It was fun, I was honored to have the opportunity to have my own exhibition there as well. So this year I'm on the Bernina stand!! Yes, so more of q

QuiltNSW Exhibition and Show.
I made the decision a couple of weeks ago to join my wonderful friend Caroline Sharkey, to go together to the QuiltNSW Exhibition and Show for 2022. We've done this in the past prior to Covid, so it's not unusual. I did manage to get 2 pieces in that came back from AQS (American Quilters Society) in Des Moines, USA, in a nick of time. Arrangements made to pass it on to Catherine Butterworth whom dropped them off to judging. Well that was worth it and I'd like to thank all who

Crazy Week of Ups and Downs...
So while we all go into shock with the news of Queen Elizabeth II passing. I seemed to be watching endless tributes and documentaries on her life and found it all so fascinating. What a Woman! I can talk endlessly about her but I think most would still know more than me. While I'm that mode, I get an email from the organizers of International Quilt Festival congratulating me on being a prize winner...WHAT? Already? I thought...Wow. I wasn't allowed to mention it until IQF Hou

Near the end of another month.
August is nearly over! Wow, the year has gone so quickly. As it's been too long again since updating the news here on my website. I want to spend a bit of time to actually work out some things here and maybe get an email list happening in the months ahead so I can send out to whom are interested in knowing where my work is being exhibited or even exhibitions that I'm involved in. More on this soon. Coming up in the immediate future though is an exhibit of some of my works at

Wow, it's the end of August already!
Here we are almost the end of August 2021, I'm still in lockdown! It's ok though I've been flat out busy and all is good. I know I'm one of the lucky ones and extremely grateful for that too. So here, although not finished yet, because this is not my normal genre and I'm a lot slower at this, is my Aurifil Artisan August Challenge. Yep Paper Piecing, I've done it before admittedly a few years ago now and I do enjoy it. The pattern I found on Etsy called 'Atomic Bombshell' usi

Aurifil Threads July Challenge
Yay 'Born to be Wild' is now under my needle for Quilting. As a Aurifil Artisan I have the opportunity to do the monthly Artisan Challenge. So for July the challenge was to work on a project featuring 40wt thread....now hardly a challenge to do that!! I love the 40wt threads...I actually love all of the weights but I do use mainly 40wt and 50wt in the my thread sketching. Now for the project! On the to do list was to use one of my images as inspiration for my Wild Dog/Painted

Another Lockdown in my part of the world.
So here in Victoria, Australia we are having lock downs still and whilst I'm fine with it there are lots out there from all walks of life that are not. I'd just like to say, take care and stay strong. I know I sound like a politician, but I do feel that way. I'm certainly keeping busy in lots of ways but my Dogs will always need me and so does my Art! I have days I don't want to do a thing, but push past it and just get on with it. With that I've been working on my piece Born

The Archibalds...I tried and I will try again
Shimmering Jenny - mixed media 1.95m x 1.5m This is my portrait of a very important and lovely person, our amazing Jenny Bowker AO. Although I didn't get into the Archibalds as a finalist, the experience of first approaching Jenny then flying up to spend a day with Jenny and her wonderful husband Bob. Setting up to take the photos with my husband Carl. To then doing some smaller test runs and finally to bite the bullet by approaching the real big one. Thoroughly enjoyed all

I managed to do it by the deadline! Well ..sort of I didn't quite finish, still needs binding but the first project is otherwise complete. Meet: 'Close to Me' All but the binding is done here...I will still crop it too. He's a baby Mountain Gorilla in Rwanda being cradled by his Mamma.
