Yay ‘Born to be Wild’ is now under my needle for Quilting. As a Aurifil Artisan I have the opportunity to do the monthly Artisan Challenge. So for July the challenge was to work on a project featuring 40wt thread….now hardly a challenge to do that!! I love the 40wt threads…I actually love all of the weights but I do use mainly 40wt and 50wt in the my thread sketching.
Now for the project! On the to do list was to use one of my images as inspiration for my Wild Dog/Painted Wolf piece. I have hundreds of photos now since my last trip to Africa in 2019 and this is just one of my favorites to use but I had to fix the composition a little. There are three Wild Dog puppies here leading the way. In the original photo they were followed by two adults, I thought it was a little crowded so I took the one Dog behind them, left the other there as I wanted to try to have this Dog out of focus. Not quite sure it worked as well as what I had in my head, but it’s there now! Very happy with the puppies though and must be my love for these Wild Dogs and all dogs for that matter as to how well these have turn out so far. Check in a few weeks when I should have it all quilted and finished.
Dogs are fabric collage on a Tim Holtz fabric background, thread sketch with Aurifil of course on my Bernina Q20 machine. I’ve just started quilting it an will also be adding some golden silk cocoon cases. So still going and enjoying every minute of it.
😉
The background fabrics are great because they do not detract from the lovely detail of the dogs, but are more interesting than a regular pattern on a fabric. The way you do expressions and eyes continues to astound me!! Love your work Sue!!❤️❤️
