Big news!
At AQC (Australasian Quilt Convention) 2018…I won the Challenge! Every year AQC have a challenge theme and since ‘The Tram’ I’ve entered each year, my work has been accepted into and part of the exhibiting finalist too. Always feel honored to be part of this, as the exhibit then travels around Australia and NZ as part of the Craft & Quilt Fair. So this year’s theme was Borders & Bridges. After some long deliberation and thought process I finally blended two of my photos along with some digital painting and Bordering Extinction was on it’s way being created in fabric and stitch.
Mother and her calf, White Rhinoceroses on a bridge walking away to more faded (oblivion) to help raise awareness that we need to do more as these and so many other animals will end up in picture books or zoos only and not walk this earth in the wild.
Anyway I must have done a great job because I won….Yes won 1st prize!! Whoohooo.
Then getting through the next 4 days at AQC was just fabulous, had the best time with fantastic people new and old friends, even though I felt not enough time spent with the older ones as always. I was even lucky enough that not only my husband came out to see it hanging but my son too. Another win!
Monday noon I was the guest speaker this month for AQA (Australian Quilters Association) That went well because my quilts distracted them from my very nervous and awkward talk.
Arriving home that afternoon still recovering from all that had been happening since last Wednesday night I received an email from Judy at Expertise Events congratulating me with the news I had also received Viewers Choice! Double Whoooohoooo.
Now thank you all whom came along to AQC and voted in the Challenge. I am of course over the moon to receive both.
Also want to congratulate all whom entered and all the finalist in the challenge. It’s always an honor to have my piece hanging along with all the other wonderful works of art.
